Privacy at SurfBerichtje
This notice describes the processing that actually takes place in the website and Telegram service. SurfBerichtje does not sell your information or use advertising trackers.
1. Who processes the information?
SurfBerichtje operates the website and Telegram service. You can reach us through the contact page.
2. The public website
The public website uses privacy-friendly, cookieless visitor statistics through Umami Cloud. At an aggregated level we use this to understand visitor numbers, public pages viewed, referrers, country or region, browser and device, and a small number of anonymous interactions such as Order, WhatsApp and language switch clicks.
SurfBerichtje does not send names, email addresses, telephone numbers, Telegram IDs, payment references, security tokens or form contents to Umami. Search parameters and non-public or dynamic payment and management pages are not tracked. Browser Do Not Track is respected.
The web server may also create ordinary technical access and error logs, such as time, requested page, IP address and browser information. These logs are used for security and incident investigation.
3. The Telegram service
When you use the bot, SurfBerichtje may store the following in SQLite:
- Telegram chat ID and, when supplied by Telegram, username and first name;
- access status, selected surf spot, active/paused state, an unused legacy notification level from earlier versions and change timestamps;
- sent alert and message IDs, tracked surf windows and delivery history;
- if you give feedback: whether you surfed, your rating, board used, optional comment and response timestamps.
Forecast and service information is stored to create alerts, avoid duplicate messages and improve the service with voluntary feedback.
4. Why is the information used?
If you separately activate WhatsApp, SurfBerichtje stores your normalized telephone number, opt-in time and source, enabled state, limited command and webhook idempotency keys, and delivery statuses. Message content is not written to operational logs.
- manage access to the private bot;
- apply your surf spot and active/paused preference;
- answer Telegram commands and deliver automatic alerts;
- prevent duplicate alerts, investigate incidents and improve the service;
- use voluntary surf feedback for personal preferences and product improvement.
5. External services
If you activate WhatsApp, Meta processes the telephone number and WhatsApp message and delivery data under Meta's terms.
Telegram processes messages and account data under its own terms. Umami Cloud is an external technical provider for visitor statistics on the public website. Other external technical services may be used to produce forecasts and host the service; SurfBerichtje does not send your Telegram identity when retrieving forecast information. SurfBerichtje does not use advertising networks or marketing profiles.
6. Retention and deletion
The current bot deactivates a subscriber record when access is removed or revoked; it does not automatically erase that record and its related history. No fixed public retention periods have been adopted. A request for access, correction or deletion is assessed against information that must be kept for technical or legal reasons.
7. Payment information
For a paid subscription SurfBerichtje processes the email address, subscription status, internal order and subscription references, Mollie customer, payment, subscription, mandate and refund IDs, consent versions, cancellations, withdrawals and transactional-email delivery status. Complete bank and card details remain with Mollie. This information is used to perform and evidence the agreement, process payment and access, provide support and keep required administration.
8. Your privacy rights
You can request access, correction or deletion of your personal information and, where applicable, restriction, portability or objection. Use the details on the contact page. Include enough information to identify your Telegram account, but never send bot or payment secrets.
